When selling your property, surveyors will seek evidence that any notifiable domestic electrical work done post-January 2005 complies with Building Regulations. There are two ways to prove compliance:

A certificate from a competent installer registered under one of five Electrical Self-Certification schemes (e.g., NICEIC).

A completion certificate from the local authority, which requires relevant electrical test certificates from a competent person upon completion of the installation.
